Wild pony

Horse Banner Pictures, Images and Photos

frightened horse

It's not just a wild pony or horse that is nervous.

It can effect all horse's and pony's of any age ( old or young).

Most horses get frightened if taken by surprise, the same way as you would if someone jumped out on you.

A horse that settles down quickly after a fright is far easier to manage than a horse that is totally freaked out and wont relax.

This is the closest you will get to a perfect horse, as they are unpredictable animals with minds of their own.

Why is my horse nervous?

· A wild pony, which is rounded up and suddenly put in a domestic environment, will feel venerable on his own.

It would have been taken away from its natural surroundings and the safety of the herd.

· A young horse could be missing his mother and not yet used to being handled.

· The horse may have been badly traumatised or is lacking in human contact.

In order to gain a horses trust you will need endless patients and understanding , it wont happen overnight.

To gain a nervous horse's trust you need positive body language and a reassuring manner along with empathy.

A horse afraid of people must feel safe before any progress is to be made.

Do not introduce anybody else to the horse until he is confident with you around him.
