Ancient equine - Equus Tarpan
The equid fossil can be traced back over a period of more than 50 million years.
The early ancestors of the modern horse of today Hyracotherium (Eohippus), also known as Eohippus also known as the (Dawn horse) was about as big as a fox (a small animal)and walked on spread out toes.
The -Tarpan- -is also known as Eurasian, a wild prehistoric horse type.
It takes its name Eurasianfrom a Turkic language (Kyrgyz or Kazakh) name meaning "wild horse".
It ranged from Southern France and Spain eastwards to central Russia.
Cave drawings of Eurasian have been found in France and Spain .
Artefacts are also believed to show the species in Southern Russia, where Saythian nomads domesticated this type of species around 3000BC.

They became extinct in the wild between 1875 and 1890.
The last remaining mare was accidentally killed whilst attempting to capture her.
The last captive
Eurasian died in a Russian zoo in 1909.
The Polish government created a preserve for the Eurasian descendents in a forested area in Bialowieza.
These descendents are known as the Polish primitive horse.
Attempts have been made to re-create this prehistoric horse.
Selective breeding is the process of breeding animals for particular genetic traits.
None of the breeding programs were completely successful, although some horses had many similarities to the original breed.
