Paddock
An enclosure to hold a horse.
Paces
The horse at walk,trot, canter and gallop.
Pastern
The part of a horse’s leg between the foot and the fetlock joint.
pack horse
A horse that is used for the transportation of goods.
The horse carries the goods in packs on either side of its back.
Plain head
An ugly head on a horse.
Pedigree
Details of the horse's ancestry which is recorded in a stud book and also in their passport.
Poached ground
Muddy and cut up field.
Pure-bred
This is a horse or pony that is of unmixed breding.It has a pedigree of pure bredding.
Pommel
The front part of a saddle.
Piebald
The coat colour of a horse or pony with black and white patches.
This is a British term.
Pony
A pony stands up to 14.2hh.If the pony measures more; he is classed as a horse.
Part-bred
This is a Thoroughbred crossed with another breed.The offspring would be called a Part-bred.
Primitive
This term describes the early subspecies of horses, such as the Tarpan,the Asiatic Wild horse and the Forest horse.
