Arabian horse families are now labelled by where their most recent ancestors were bred, such as “Polish,” “Spanish,” “Crabbet,” (from England), “Russian,” “Egyptian,” and Domestic (in the United States).

So a Polish Arabian is an Arabian horse who has recent ancestors that were bred at stud farms in Poland, from horses that were brought from the Bedouin in Arabia many centuries ago.
The Arabian developed in a desert climate and was prized by the nomadic Bedouin people, often being brought inside the family tent for shelter and protection from theft.
Selective breeding for traits including an ability to form a cooperative relationship with humans created a horse breed that is good-natured, quick to learn, and willing to please.

The Arabian also developed the high spirit and alertness needed in a horse used for riding and war.
This combination of willingness and sensitivity requires modern Arabian horse owners to handle their horses with competence and respect.
Poland has produced some of the finest horses in the world, and stallions have been in great demand worldwide.
Pedigrees have always been kept by Polish Arab stud farms but in 1926 the Ministry of Agriculture opened the Polish Arab studbook.
The Average height is 14.3 – 15hh (1.50 – 1.52m) with solid coat colours of black, bay, chestnut and grey.
The Polish Arabian is used to improve other breeds and as a riding horse.
